Shared Values and Democracy in Asia Symposium on 18th January, 2016

This symposium being held on 18th January, 2016 at the Nikkei Hall in Otemachi, Tokyo was the second leg of a pair of Japan-India conferences. The first, titled "Samvad: A Global Hindu-Buddhist Initiative on Conflict Avoidance and Environment Consciousness," was held in September 2015 in India.

Participants examined which values, are commonly shared by Asian states and how they have sustained the evolution of those countries into modern democracies. Research findings on shared values in Asia were referenced, and the future of Asia's political and democratic institutions, as well as interstate relations, was explored. The Hon'ble Prime Ministers of both India & Japan also addressed the gathering.
